The garden at night with deckchairs, parasols and warm light

The Estate

The Open-Air Cinema

The night sky for a ceiling, the meadow for stalls.

When dusk comes, the estate opens its largest hall: the sky. Deckchairs stand in rows on the cinema meadow, a screen stretches between the trees, and somewhere it smells of popcorn and summer.

You can show the couple’s favourite film here, premiere the day’s photographs at midnight, or screen the match if the wedding happens to fall on a final. A hundred and fifty guests sit; two hundred stand and drift between the rows with blankets and glasses.

It is the one act nobody expects — and the one still being talked about years later.
