The Estate

The Villa

Seven bedrooms, one house for the night before and the morning after.

The villa was the commandant’s house, and it shows: it stands a little apart, has the best view and the thickest walls. Today it belongs to the couple and their closest people — for the night before, for getting ready in the morning, for the hour after the last dance when the house falls quiet again.

Inside, lime plaster and old timber meet leather and brass; the loggia opens beneath brick arches towards the pool. Early risers swim a few lengths in the light-flooded indoor pool before the day begins. Seven bedrooms, among them the wedding suite, keep the closest family under one roof.

Getting ready in the morning light, breakfast in the salon, a first glance down the avenue from the arched window: the most important day begins here — before anyone sees it.
